Now “many” is used to indicate that there were a number of things and they are countable. So “many” goes with the plural “are.” As I've said in Episode 23, it is a bit confusing sometimes. So, the first question one would ask is, “How many is many?” And that is entirely dependent on the situation, so if I said I wrote a test and I got many wrong, you would think that would be many right? But if the test was only out of 10, “many” would be a number of around 6 or 7 possibly, or even 5.
And yet if I say many people find climate change alarming, in this context many could mean millions, so it largely depends on the number items that we are talking about. Ok, so the best way to do it is to just practice, so let's get going with the questions.
